This morning, at his home, Edilio Stefani, Chairman of the Sofidel Group, passed away suddenly. The family announced his passing. This is a tremendous loss for everyone at the Sofidel Group, who express their profound sorrow for this loss and extend their condolences to the entire Stefani family.
Edilio Stefani, born in Lucca on 31st January 1960, is a shareholder and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sofidel – the holding company of the industrial group of the same name that wholly owns the shares of all the companies that form part of it – one of the leading producer in the world in the tissue sector (paper for hygienic and domestic use).
After completing his technical and commercial studies, in 1980, at a very young age, he joined the company alongside his father, Cavaliere del Lavoro and co-founder Emi Stefani. He made his debut in the Group in the Fine Paper plant in Porcari (Lucca), now known as Soffass Via Leccio, where he refined his knowledge in the field of paper production and converting. These were the years that led Sofidel to acquire national leadership in Italy and to start a process of internationalisation, first in Europe and then, in more recent years (2012), in the United States.
Until December 2008, he was General Manager of Soffass Via Leccio; from January 2009, he was Business Development Director and Technical Supervisor of the Group. In March 2021, he took on the position of Chairman of Sofidel.
