A statical approach based on Process Data Analysis – VIDEO
MIAC Tissue Conference 2021 – XAVIER MATHIEU / BTG
The full speech by Xavier Mathieu of BTG during the MIAC Tissue Conference, which took place at MIAC 2021 exhibition held every year in October in Lucca (Italy). MIAC is the international paper industry event that sees the participation of 250 international exhibitors of the paper industry sector.
Maximize the paper quality and the tissue machine productivity while ensuring the comprehensive protection of the Yankee by measuring and benchmarking the wear mechanics of the crepe blade. In this paper, we briefly review the main wearing mechanisms around the creping area (blade/paper/Yankee) and their effects and we then see how this can be measured. The main body of the paper showcases the conclusions that can be drawn from an analysis of one specific blade wear and process factors with a database of almost 1000 high performance creping blades compiled by BTG. This document shows how to benchmark the effect on blade wear of furnish, Yankee coating types and dosages, cleaning blade impact, Yankee surface type, blade material type (and more). This article should debunk a few common myths along the way and will conclude with some recommendations for the Tissue-makers to help them set-up the optimum safe running time for high performance crepe blades.
